Salendine Nook
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Salendine Nook is a district of Huddersfield 3 km (2 miles) to the north-west of Huddersfield in the English county of West Yorkshire.
Bordered to the north-east by Laund Hill, Weather Hill and Low Hill and to the south-west by Longwood Edge.
Salendine Nook lies between Quarmby and Outlane on a tributary to the textile industries' Pack Horse road across the Pennines. Architecturally, the area features traditional weavers' cottages exhibiting vestiges of workshop entrances near the cross roads at its centre as well as dwellings associated with potteries and farms.
Huddersfield New College and Salendine Nook High School are situated at the natural scar of Longwood Edge, affording a view across the Colne Valley which for much of the late 20th Century was punctuated by explosions associated with the testing of Fireworks at Crosland Hill.
