Saleem Malik (Urdu: سلیم ملک) (born April 16, 1963) is a former Pakistani cricketer [1981/82 - 1999] who once captained the Pakistani cricket team.
One of his notable performances was an ODI innings that he played against India. Chasing 238 in 40 overs, Pakistan were reduced to 5/161 when Saleem arrived at the crease. He scored 72 (not out) out of the remaining 77 runs from just 36 deliveries to steer Pakistan to a celebrated 2 wicket win with 3 balls still to spare in the match.
[edit] Match Fixing
Malik becamed the first ever cricketer to be banned for match fixing [1] [2]. He played his last Test match in 1999 January and ended his cricket career in disgrace, being banned from associating himself with the game in any capacity. His appeals of innocence have not borne fruit since, and he remains an outcast from the cricketing world.
