Saleel Wagh

Saleel Wagh is an Indian poet who writes in the Marathi language.

Saleel Wagh was born in 1967 in Rajkot, Gujarath in India and brought up in western Maharashtra, Pune.

The first collection his poems, written during the period 1983 to 1994, Nivdak Kavita, was published in 1996 by Time & Space Communications. His first book was well received and left deep impact on the community of poetry-scholars and poets. He had published another book of poems in 2005, namely Sadhayachya Kavita. He has received prestigious shabdavesh award for his work. He has also published translation of Shamsher Bahadur Singh’s Hindi poetry into Marathi. His collection of literary criticism and the English version of his poems are in press.

He was an activist in the Radical Humanist Movement, formed by the followers of late Manabendra Nath Roy. He worked with Royists like Tarkatritha Lakshmanshastri Joshi, V. M. Tarkunde, B R Sunthankar, G D Pradhan, V R Javahire, Sunil Bhattacharya, Nalinitai Taralekar, Indumati Parekh, Ulhas Rajdnya and others. He has edited several news-bulletin, translated and written several articles and arranged study camps at different places through out India to propagate the thoughts of radical humanist movement.
