Sakkos

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sakkos (Greek: σάκκος) is a vestment worn by Orthodox and Eastern Catholic bishops instead of the priest's phelonion. This is a tunic with wide sleeves and a distinctive pattern of trim. It reaches below the knees and is always buttoned up the sides. [1] It is similar in form to the western dalmatic, which is also derived from Byzantine dress.
