Sakai (坂井町 -chō?) was a town located in Sakai District, Fukui, Japan.
As of 2003, the town of Sakai had an estimated population of 13,082 and a density of 412.68 persons per km². The total area was 31.70 km².

The town of Sakai (坂井町 Sakai-chō?) was merged into the city of Sakai (坂井市 Sakai-shi?) on March 20, 2006. However, there still is a Sakai-chō in the newly created city of Sakai, having the same borders as the old Sakai-chō.
