This is a very different idea than a Solar Sail in that it may operate via any number of "Wind" (Energy) Origin points. A Solar Sail uses the Solar wind. A Space Sail could use, for instance, masers that are based also in space.

Actually, a solar sail uses _light_ from the sun. The solar wind is what's used for Mini-magnetospheric plasma propulsion, which uses a tenuous ionized gas coupled to a magnetic field as its sail. The solar sail article already describes beam-powered sailcraft, so I don't think any of the material would be lost as a result of the merge. --Christopher Thomas 23:46, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
