Saiyuki Reload (最遊記RELOAD?) is a manga series by Kazuya Minekura, adapted into a 25 episode anime tv series of the same name and it is the second premise of the Saiyuki anime. The anime continues the storyline of Saiyuki, and follows the adventures of Priest Genjyo Sanzo, Son Goku, Cho Hakkai and Sha Gojyo as they maintain their westward journey to stop the resurrection of the demon Gyoumao. As the reputation of the Sanzo party precedes them, they continue to fight demon assassins at every turn, but they must also deal with increasing tensions within their group in order to defeat a powerful enemy.

Contents

[edit] Manga

Currently, the series has 7 volumes. In Singapore, Chuang Yi has released the first 6 volumes in Chinese and English.

[edit] Burial Arc

This arc takes place in the past, and offers a view of the Saiyuki quartet before their formation. It is covered in volumes 3 & 4. Studio Pierrot announced last October the start of production on a 3 episode OAV which will cover this arc of the Reload Manga. It is expected to premiere sometime in April or May 2007.

[edit] Anime

The anime series, while faithful to the manga, strays off in the first 13 episodes with filler and picks up again in the next episode with minor changes and then finishes the season with the God Arc which happens to be the last part of the first series (Manga): Saiyuki
