Saint Marys Township is one of fourteen townships of Auglaize County, Ohio. It is in the western part of the county and includes part of the city of St. Marys. Saint Marys Township contains thirty-six square miles and in 2000, it had a population of 11,562, down from 11,600 in 1990. Of those, 3,145 lived in the unincorporated part of the township, and 8,417 in the city of Saint Marys.

It is crossed by the Saint Marys River and is bounded on the north by Noble Township; on the west by Jefferson Township and Franklin Township in Mercer County; on the south by German Township; and on the east by Van Buren Township in Shelby County and Washington Township. The parts of the municipality of Saint Marys remain in the township.

Grand Lake Saint Marys and its respective state park are located in the western part of the township.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.

The majority of the township is in the Saint Marys City School District with the southern portions being split between the New Bremen Local School District and the New Knoxville Local School District. The northern portion of the township is served by the Saint Marys (45885) post office, with the southern portions being split between the New Bremen (45869) and the New Knoxville (45871) post offices.
