Humbert of Pelagius (also known as Humbert of Maroilles) was born at Mezieres-sur-Oise in the early 600's. His parents were Blessed Evrard and Popita. He was a Benedictine monk in Laon. In the year 652 he co-founded and became the first abbot of a monastery in Maroilles[2] in France, Avesnois, Department Nord. Buildings of this monastery are still present there, although the abbey was ruined in the course of the French Revolution. http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=3816 Saint Humbert</ref>. He died about the year 680. His feast day is March 25.[3] Saint Curcodomus succeeded him as abbot.[4]
