Saint Giovanni Battista de Rossi

Saint John Baptist de' Rossi (1698-1764) is a saint in the Roman Catholic church.
Born in Genua, he studied in Rome, became a priest and worked tirelessly there for homeless women, the sick, prisoners and workers, becoming a very popular confessor. He was canonized in 1881, and a church was commissioned to him in Rome in 1940 though construction was delayed by the Second World War and it was only consecrated on 22 May 1965 (with the saint's relics being moved in on the following day from SS Trinità dei Pellegrini).
