Saint Andrew's Junior College started pre-university classes in 1969 and in 1978, moved to its Telok Blangah site. The school has returned to Potong Pasir as of 2006 as part of the St Andrew's Village project. It is situated on the former SASS site at 55 Potong Pasir Avenue 1, Singapore 358389. A sheltered pedestrian bridge across the Kallang River connects the JC to the secondary & junior schools across the river. Students at the college are formally called "Saints". It is a 10 minute walk away from Potong Pasir MRT station and a 5 minute bus ride away (Bus 142) from Toa Payoh Interchange.

The Junior College was consistently ranked 7th in the annual JC rankings before such rankings were stopped in 2004. Cut off point for the Arts faculty was 10 in the recent 2007 JAE and for the Science faculty, 8.

[edit] SAJC @ Malan Road (1978 - 2005)

  • At the former campus at Malan Road, the Junior College had an air conditioned hall as well as tutorial rooms that were all air conditioned. Air conditioning in halls and tutorial rooms were not standard facilities in all Junior Colleges in Singapore and as such these were not funded by the Ministry Of Education but rather was paid for from money raised by the alumni and college over the years.

The principal has stated that at the new Potong Pasir campus, the tutorial rooms will not be air conditioned due to budget constraints arising from the development of the mega Saint Andrew's Village project. Additional tutorial rooms had to be constructed because of a very large intake of students. Construction of the campus was behind schedule for some time because of the change in plans. However, as an extra S$1.5 million were raise, its school hall together with that of the junior and secondary schools will be air-conditioned towards the end of 2006.

SAJC is the only junior college to have a culinary kitchen in its campus.

[edit] Uniform

The shirt/blouse is white and the pants/skirts is navy blue in colour. Students have to wear a navy blue tie with yellow, white strips and the school crest everyday during schools hours (the only JC uniform to incorporate a tie for everyday wear). The uniform of SAJC is arguably the most appealing by secondary and junior college students. Students may wear sports shoes in the school colours and ankle socks visible at the ankle.
