[edit] Origin of the name
The name is believed to be an alteration of haha, a term for a fence in a ditch. Another story holds that the founders, in 1873, would have sighed an "Ah! Ah!" of admiration on discovering nearby Lake Témiscouata. Then, say the locals, the scribe probably misspelled the expression. The exclamation marks are added colloquially, but are not internationally recognised as they are in Westward Ho!
