Sahara with Michael Palin

Sahara with Michael Palin was a four part BBC television series presented by British comedian and travel presenter Michael Palin, and broadcast in 2002. In it, Palin travelled around the Sahara Desert in Northern Africa, meeting people and visiting places. The journey route included the following countries: Gibraltar, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria.

  1. Line in the Sand - Countries visited: Gibraltar, Morocco, Western Sahara, and Mauritania
  2. Destination Timbuktu - Countries visited: Senegal and Mali
  3. Absolute Desert - Countries visited: Mali and Niger
  4. Dire Straits - Countries visited: Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Ceuta and back to Gibraltar.

A book (ISBN: 0297843036) was also released to accompany the series, written by Palin on his travels, with photography by Basil Pao, who has worked together with Palin on several books.
