Sagopa Kajmer also known as DJ Mic Check (real name Yunus Özyavuz) is a Turkish hip-hop artist born in Samsun in 1978. He first started his career as a DJ in a local radio station in Samsun. In 1997 he started university education in Istanbul University Persian Language & Literature Department. In 1998 he started his musical career by setting up his own music stuido called Kuvvetmira. In 2001 he released his debut album “Sözlerim Silahım”. One year later came his second album “İhtiyar Heyeti”. The same year he started using “Sagopa Kajmer” stage name. In 2003 he made the production of “Med Cezir” album of Ceza. He made all the beats himself. At the same year he released his new album “Bir Pesimistin Gözyaşları”. In 2004 he produced soundtrack song of Turkish movie “G.O.R.A.”. He is considered as the pioneer of turntablism movement in Turkey.
