[edit] Football career
Rosenfels was a college player at Iowa State University, and the Washington Redskins selected him in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He was acquired by the Miami Dolphins on August 22, 2002 in exchange for a seventh-round 2003 draft pick, but only threw 48 passes. He signed with the Texans as an unrestricted free agent on March 13, 2006.
[edit] Ebay auction
During the 2004 season, he auctioned "The Sage Rosenfels Experience" on eBay, which offered the highest-bidding fan a chance to hang out with Rosenfels for one weekend during the season.
[edit] Jewish background
According to the 2000 Census, Rosenfels was part of an exclusive group of Jewish people living in Iowa. Only .2 percent of the population in state claimed Jewish heritage.
In an interview done with the Washington Post in 2001, Rosenfels commented on his childhood. "It was tough growing up as such a minority. There was no place to buy a yarmulke. My family had to make them out of corn husks."
