Sagareshwar is an artificially cultivated forest without a perennial supply of water, and most of the wildlife species are artificially introduced.

Quite a large number of insects, birds and reptiles such as pythons and other snakes are also found in the sanctuary.

A main attraction is to reach the top of the hill through the forest. One can see Krishna river flowing through lush green sugarcane fields and grapevines from the hill. There is a large number of shrines of Lord Shiva which were built during the reign of Chalukyas.
