[edit] Rough Cuts and Short Cuts
Rough Cuts is a trademarked service from Safari Books Online. It allows users to subscribe to evolving manuscripts of books in progress before they are published.
The Rough Cuts service is based on the model The Long Snout put forth by Tim O'Reilly, who posits that revenues can be made at the earliest stages of the authoring process. The idea has roots in Chris Anderson's The Long Tail.
Another product series available through Safari, Short Cuts, is a set of short-form tutorials (under 100 pages) on emerging technologies.
