Sadeque Hossain Khoka

Sadeque Hossain Khoka (Bengali: সাদেক হোসেন খোকা) (May 12, 1952) is a Bangladeshi politician and mayor of the capital Dhaka. He is a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Khoka was born into a Muslim family. His father was an engineer and a social worker. Khoka attended Dhaka University, receiving an M.A. degree in psychology. In 1971 at age 19 Khoka fought in the Bangladesh Liberation War. After independence, Khoka worked in organized soccer, ultimately rising to the positions of General Secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan Football Association and Joint General Secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation.

Khoka was first elected to the Jatiyo Sangshad (national legislature) in 1991. In the same year he was made Minister of Youth and Sports. Reelected in 1996 and 2001, Khoka then received the portfolio of Minister of Fisheries and Livestock. He was elected Mayor of Dhaka on April 25, 2002.

Khoka is married and has two sons and one daughter.
