Dr. Seyed Mohammad Sadegh Kharazi was the Iranian Ambassador under President Khatami to France from September 2002 until November 2005 when his mission was terminated by the unexpected victory of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the Presidential elections.

He has previously served as Ambassador to the United Nations under President Rafsanjani from 1989 to 1995 and was Special Envoy of the President responsible for organising the OIC summit from 1998-1999 and Deputy Foreign Minister from 1998-2002.
