Sadat Academy for Management Sciences (SAMS) (Arabic:أكاديمية السادات للعلوم الإدارية ʼAkādemyāt ʼal-sādāt lil-ʿoloom al ʼedāriāh), is an Egyptian Public Academy undet the Authorization of Ministry of State for Administrative Development, SAMS was founded in Egypt in 1981 its main branch located in Maadi (Corniche el Nile) , this branch include The Faculty of Management (FOM), The National High Level Management Institute (NHLMI) and The Research and Information Center (RIC)

[edit] Historical Background

Sadat Academy for Management sciences (SAMS) is dated back to 1954 when the Public Administration Institute was established, followed by the National Institute for Management Development (NIMD) in 1961 and the Local Administration Institute in 1967. In 1971, the institutes merged into one autonomous institution called: the National Institute for Management Development (NIMD).

SAMS came into being in February 1981 in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 127 of 1981, and was re-structured in compliance with Presidential Decree No. 3 of 2004 to emerge as a public authority and body corporate, having a scientific and cultural nature. As a governmental educational institution and a leading professional institution subject to Law No. 29 of 1973 on Egyptian Universities Regulation, SAMS stands on equal footing with other Egyptian universities with regard to authority, and obligations. SAMS’ central mission is to enhance the profession of management by ‎advancing the study of management and enriching the professional development ‎of its students and clients. It is also committed to shaping the future of managerial research and development. SAMS is mainly engaged in education, consultancy, training, and research.


[edit] Aims of the SAMS

Through its training programs, the SAMS aims at developing the skills of employees at their various levels and in different work sectors. This training is presented in the light of the state's economic and social development plans. The SAMS organizes specialist studies in the fields of management development. It grants academic degrees, postgraduate diplomas and degrees of honor. It contributes to deepening the managerial concepts needed for developing the level of management, improving performance and increase production, paying special attention to specialist activities concerned with the Local Administration Units affairs. In the light of scientific facts, the SAMS also offers consultation services needed for solving the problems confronting the course of production. It also supports and develops scientific research dealing with issues of administrative development. It participates in activities concerned with collecting, documenting and publishing data related to administration.

The SAMS exchanges specialized technical services and aids with countries and international organizations and recognized overseas authorities and institutions, according to set licenses and regulations.

SAMS undergraduate program is mainly located in Cairo, Maadi. It is also offered in two of SAMS premises situated in the cities of Port Said, and Dekernes (Delta). It awards Bachelor degree in Management Sciences, accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities Decrees No. 3 of 1986 and No. 110 of 2006.

In its undergraduate program, SAMS is engaged in designing and developing curriculums that combine applied studies with theoretical ones, making use of the most advanced techniques of teaching and researching with a view to enhancing students’ creative thinking and intellectual potentials.

SAMS’ post-graduate program is designed to maintain high standards of academic achievement and professional behavior in an attempt to promote excellence in educational and research aspects in the field of management and related disciplines. Curricula are designed to reflect an appropriate blend of theory and application of management education. SAMS believes that a balanced academic approach prepares students effectively for managerial positions in today's dynamic workplace.

It mainly aims at:

  • Preparing professional cadres able to (a) promote education and research in management sciences; (b) manage public and private organizations and enterprises; and (c) solve problems of local society and develop its potentials to cope with the rapid changes in today’s world.
  • Enhancing academic and cultural relationships and exchanging expertise with educational and economic institutions locally and internationally.
  • Cooperating with the business and professional community to meet the needs of the market and help in developing professional cadres capable of working with the sophisticated technological evolution.
