Sacrum Torch
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sacrum Torch was a New York City record label created solely to make and distribute Eric and Lisa Hammer's various albums. The bands include Mors Syphilitica, The Order of the N.C.S., and Sisyphus Autopsy. When Mors Syphilitica was signed to Projekt Records, Sacrum Torch continued to be credited as the band's manager until it was replaced by Athan Maroulis.
On at least two occasions, Sacrum Torch released a mail-order catalog offering obscure albums and oddities, including dolls by Dame Darcy. It operated out of a P.O. box in Manhattan's Prince Street station, much like Requiem in White's label, First Communion Records.
The label's logo featured a human sacrum and pelvis with a flame on top. The sacrum, meaning 'sacred' in Latin, was once believed to be unbreakable and the part of the body that allowed the rising of the dead.
