Sacramento Sirens

Incorporated in the State of California in 2001, the Sacramento Sirens have proven to be one of the most successful women’s full tackle football teams in the nation. In their first year, the Sirens won the divisional title and advanced to the playoffs. In 2002, the Sirens took the Women's American Football Conference (WAFC) title in the championship game against the Arizona Caliente.

Joining a larger league in 2003, the Independent Women's Football League (IWFL), the Sirens traveled to New York to capture their second consecutive championship title beating the New York Sharks, the oldest currently existing team in the country. In 2004, Sacramento hosted the IWFL National Championship game where the Sirens defeated their New York rival again to achieve unprecedented back-to-back IWFL National Championships. A year later, in Manchester, New Hampshire, the Sirens took their sports dynasty to another level by defeating the Atlanta Xplosion in the 2005 IWFL National Championship. The Sacramento Sirens season begins with tryouts in the late fall and early winter followed by rookie and veteran training camps and a 3-month practice schedule. The first regular season game takes place in late April and concludes with the championship game in late July. A typical season will have a preseason game, eight to ten regular season games and two playoff games, including a division championship and a conference championship.
