The Sacramento Chinese Catholic Community Young Adult Group (SCCCYAG), a group within the Sacramento Chinese Catholic Community (SCCC), provides young Chinese adults with an environment for spiritual growth in the Diocese of Sacramento.
[edit] History
Seeing several young adults attending Mass regularly, the president at that time, Joseph Chan, called for an initiation of a Young Adult Group within the SCCC (Sacramento Chinese Catholic Community).
The first meeting, which was about evangelization, was held by KK Ng on Friday, November 5, 2004. The founding members were Eddy Kwong; KK Ng; Martin Ng; Barbara Yip, PT., DPT.; and Sara Yip. Elisa Yao, MD., Angela Lee, and Brian Chow later joined.
[edit] More information
Even though it is a young adult group, there is no age limitation on membership. The SCCCYAG uses English to hold Bible studies and activities to eliminate language barrier among Mandarin-speaking, Cantonese-speaking, and English-speaking young adult.
The group meets every Friday at 7:30pm. The gathering in first and third weeks of the month usually is Bible Study, while the second and fourth weeks are social activity. If there is a fifth week, the YAG (Young Adult Group) invites a guest speaker to hold a spiritual talk, or one of the members holds one.
The current Representative of the group is Martin Ng. The Representative represents the voice of the YAG in the Business Meeting of the SCCC. Also, the Representative is the administrator in the YAG.
