Sabinas Hidalgo is a city and municipality located at the Mexican state of Nuevo León.

Sabinas Hidalgo is located at 26° 29' 59" North and 100° 9' 48" West; limits to the north with Lampazos de Naranjo; to the east with Vallecillo and Agualeguas; to the south with Higueras and Salinas Victoria; and in the west with Villaldama.

The town was founded as Real de Santiago de las Sabinas in July 25, 1693 by the General Ignacio de Maya, but it was populated since 1692 by the priest and lawyer Francisco de la Calancha y Valenzuela.

It was called after, Villa de Sabinas, Hidalgo was added to the name honoring Miguel Hidalgo, the Mexican independence war starter; and in 1971 was elevated to city.
