This fair use image is not being used to identify a person, it is used in a subject article. It would, and does, fail any use to identify the two individuals in the image.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 21:00, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly what is it being used to depict? --Abu Badali 13:39, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
The image is being used in the following section:
- Disqualification
- Offenses punishable by disqualification (or "DQ") include: ...
- Striking an opponent with a foreign object (unless the rules of the match specifically allow this).
While an image from a spectator could be created of a similar event (hitting with a foreign object), I do not think a smaller less clear image would "adequately give the same information" (enphasis mine) as quoted from the first fair use criteria.
I am not a great defender of fair use images, but I do believe that the image is an appropriate addition to the applicable section in the wresling article and a free image would not adequately give the same information.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 14:57, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- But an image from an spectator won't necessarily be a "smaller less clear image". I still think this unfree image is not justifiable. --Abu Badali 15:01, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
While amlost anything in the world is "possible", given the proximity of the professional film crew and their stablized and professional equipment vs the distance and hand-held nature of a spectator, I find it improbable that a larger, more clear image will be created. As I have stated before I am not a fair use advicate, but in this case I think it is an appropriate use of the image and the fair use claim. We will likely disagree and that is fine. I have made my pitch it is now up to an admin to take approriate action. There are a lot of inappropriate fair use images in WP and most are appropriately deleteable; I respectively disagree on this one.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 17:00, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
