S'Task

S'Task is a fictional character mentioned in various Star Trek novels. S'Task was said to be a close follower of Surak, but eventually differences between the two led to S'Task denouncing Surak and starting his own branch of Vulcan ideology.

S'Task drew a great number of followers to his cause and eventually led his movement to migrate from Vulcan. This migration would eventually found the Romulan Empire. S'Task's exploits are primarily covered in a Pocket Books novel called "The Romulan Way".

In the novel "The Lost Years", a Vulcan warlord named Zakal is said to have died the day before S'Task and his followers were to leave the Vulcan star system, thus setting the Romulan migration sometime around the beginning of the 1st century.
