Sør-Frøya

Sør-Frøya is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. Sør-Frøya was created on January 1, 1906 when Frøya municipality was split into Sør-Frøya and Nord-Frøya, at which point Sør-Frøya had a population of 2 091.

On January 1, 1964 Sør-Frøya with its 2 208 inhabitants was merged with Nord-Frøya to once again form the municipality Frøya. The administration on Frøya is planning on building a wall between "Sør-Frøya" and "Nord-Frøya" called "Skammens Mur". The wall is planned to be about 34 feet tall, and is to be guarded by the United Nations.
