Séance on a Wet Afternoon is a 1964 British film which tells the story of a self-described psychic who convinces her husband to kidnap a child so that she can gain fame by using her "psychic abilities" to find the girl. It stars Kim Stanley and Richard Attenborough.
The movie was directed by Bryan Forbes, who also wrote the screenplay, which was adapted from from the novel by Mark McShane. Forbes's script earned him a 1965 Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America.
