[edit] Re: Metallica
- You're definitely right about watching the pages closely. Some pages more than others get hacked several times a day. I watch over 500 pages, not just metal, and some of the stuff that rolls in is ridiculous. 90% of my edits are just rvv's. I'll never get to admin level just doing that all day. Back on Metallica for a minute...I saw them back on the tour where they were opening for Raven. They had "Kill 'em All" and Raven had "All For One"...so it was the "Kill 'em All For One" tour...go figure!. I had a chance to meet Cliff. He was a genuinely nice guy. We talked for over an hour...about ZZ TOP!!!. A far cry from a "metal" conversation. Cliff was BIG into 70's hard rock bands. You hear people say stupid stuff like "If Cliff were alive Metallica would never have changed". Which is a load of manure. Metallica heading into a bluesy/hard rock/country rock direction....he would've loved it! CHEERS!!! Anger22 03:05, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- See what happens while we're talking? User:68.47.123.95 walks into to the Metallica page and adds in stuff thats already in the article....twice I think. If you want you can flush that one out. I've had to fix that page too many times today as it is. Take Care! Anger22 03:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Genre issues
Hello. I just wanted to say a couple of things about genres because they are very problematic. First that (debated) note on Cradle of Filth page was because a lot of people don't agree with the Symphonic black metal classification, and the band exceeds that genre. You can be easily convinced by looking at the talk page or history to see all the vandalism! Also about Old Man's Child, I understand they are a Melodic black metal band (I listen to them) but other genres were on the page simply to give a reader a sense of what they are. And the band incorporates many elements that can not be discribed by Melodic black metal. And Melodic black metal isn't quite a genre that is very well explained (nor established). So... say what you think and we could make an arrangement to avoid any confusion. Death2 06:04, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The metal project
Wikiproject Metal was on the verge of standardising a lot of genre classifications, but as you have seen Ley Shade can't help putting his/her (I still can't work that one out) own opinions first, both in articles and in the affairs of the project. You might also have noticed LS is on revert parole after an arbcom ruling and gets 1 revert per day (at time of writing LS is serving a 48 hr block for reverting the CoB article) before being blocked (LS's blocks to date) so dont worry too much about revert wars.
The genre efforts of the metal project are currently up in the air, basically my advice is to continue to be bold and edit as you see fit. I've spent a lot of time and energy in the past couple of weeks trying to get LS to work with others, I thought I was getting somewhere but now I'm not so sure. Deizio 12:40, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

- Ryouga, I would point out that banned users are not simply allowed to use anon IP's to keep editing, such IP's can be blocked on sight and the length of a ban on the main account of the puppetmaster can be extended. Encouraging Leyasu to use an anon IP isn't his best interests. Wait for his ban to end, you can use the link above to check when that happens. Deizio 11:14, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Genres
Thank you for your understanding. Genre's are a hot-spot around here. I prefer not to make a big fuss about it but other's don't agree. A friendly advice if you wan't it, try to avoid those kind of conflicts because the band's music is what matters and not what genre somebody thinks they are in. Many people listen to various music before they compose their own, and they are influenced by it. So the genre they are in is just an aproximation because they expand several genres. If you listen to a certain band and like their music you call them by their name and not by genre. Again thank you! Bye Death2 13:37, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Death EP
Hi again, saw your issues on Death's EP. If you want you can send an e-mail to Empty-words site keepers and ask them about it. If it exists THEY WILL KNOW. It is a little of a dumb feeling to ask them that I know, but hey if it works. I also read in an interview that there is also other material that Chuck recorded but only for him-self or for his close friends, and that those recordings are not for publishing, so it isn't improbable that somethnig like that actually exists, but it could also be garbage! Rock on Ryouga! Death2 20:50, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, I checked some fan sites as well as other sources i know of for some time and they are all good (they will not put anything if it is not entirely certain, you know Die Hard fans). And anyway nothing concerning Death E.P. so speed up the deletion process and get rid of that stupid nonsense. Other thing that I noticed strange about that EP is the songs, Chuck would made something else for his friends as a joke and not three stupid songs! Death2 23:27, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Metallica
Dear Ryouga,
Thanks for your swift answer, and I’m sorry for the accusing tone of my message. You’re right in that I maybe was a little over-ambitious in adding Blues-rock and Progressive metal to Metallica’s albums. The reason of my former frustration was that I’m not the only one who agrees on Speed metal (Kill 'Em All), Alternative metal (Load & ReLoad) and Symphonic metal (S&M). But I now see that you’re not just reverting to your liking, but that you’re trying to revert to what you usually see at those pages. I have peace with that, and I too would like to apologise for any bad blood spread.
Peace and love (and death metal),

[edit] Leyasu and WP:AE
I've put in a CheckUser request to see if Leyasu and the three anons are the same user. It might take a few days to get the results back, but I'm doing that to make sure that the anons are not just impersonating Leyasu in order to get Leyasu's block extended. I don't know if the CheckUser request will be fulfilled here or not. I've also replied to what you said at WP:AE; basically, if there is any block evasion going on, then the people involved in it should be blocked. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 21:21, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry for jumping to conclusions
Hey, I appologise about accusing you of being in league with Leyasu for keeping the faggoth section, I misunderstood your edit summary. I changed the message on the WikiProject Metal talk page accordingly. I was a bit surprised that you seemed to have sided with Leyasu! So anyway, sorry about that. I hope this whole situation clears up soon, it's just making the WikiProject look like a joke, and the metal-related pages are in an endless vandalism/revert war/personal attacks cycle that must be stopped. --IronChris | (talk) 22:17, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mathmatical Music and Gothic Saucepans
Here is the link to get math/tech up for AFD here.
Also seeing as you arent too bad at creating articles, heres a job for you that i cant do.
Ive cleared off all the bands on the Gothic Metal article that dont meet notablity to any major degree. However, a good deal of these bands dont have articles. Seeing as you can, do a bit of research and create articles for the bands. There is several metal databases on the Gothic Metal article to use.
Thats called helping out with the project. Ley Shade 21:30, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Your doing fine and being a great help. Gothic Sex (Band) Should be around. They are a german band, not heavily commercial but highly important to Germanys part in the Gothic Metal genre. Ill try to dig up information on them, but i doubt it would be easy. I guess using those databases like i said might help. Ley Shade 04:33, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] M_deth
I was hoping you'd clear up that mess a little. Empress Fedex returned with the ol' "best band" POV nonsense. I will go 3RR if I rv him anymore. I can't use VandalProof on his royal highness since technically...there's no vandalism. Cheers! Anger22 23:59, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject Metal
Hey. Thanks for notifying about bogus genres on the project page. However, you should first try to prod the article with {{subst:prod|Reason.}}. If the prod gets contested you can nominate it for deletion and then list it on the Deletion section. I've prodded Vomit metal now. Prolog 02:40, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Trivium
I saw your small blast of edits to trivium related articles and I just wanted to explain my revert on the main article. I actually agree that trivium is in no way Thrash, it's just that I'm trying to rely on sources instead of my own assessment. --Wildnox 05:27, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yea, I hadn't noticed the other guy had removed metalcore earlier, and probably wouldn't of for quite awhile if not for your reverts. --Wildnox 05:36, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Extreme power metal
You said in the Wintersun article when you made a revert or edit or whatever that extreme power metal isn't a very verifiable genre. I'd disagree. Extreme power metal refers to any band that takes power metal and fuses it with elements of extreme metal such as harsh vocals, blast beats, etc. Look at the bands that MetalStorm lists as extreme power metal. It's mainly a Finnish scene. TheguX 20:38, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My reply to your Unearth comment.
I understand and respect they comment. I don't know about Melo Death (not sure who did that, I should have removed that long ago), but I thought they were somewhat thrash (only applied for III: In The Eyes Of Fire). Maybe that's just what I think. But I believe metalcore/melodic metalcore is safer. Also I checked the Metal Archives page of them and somewhat agreed.
Thank you for posting the comment.
With regards...
AKnot 05:18, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Do you think Groove metal should be added as one of their main genres?
With regards...

[edit] Lamb of God
Ok I'll unprotect this one. I'm not around for 12 hours so if theres a problem you'll need to request at WP:RFPP. or drop a note on my talk and I'll protect again when I'm back Gnangarra 02:06, 8 December 2006 (UTC) _____________________________________________________________________________
I do realise that those arent genres listed on wikipedia but what i was trying to prove to you was that it is hard to limit LoG to only 2 genres that they are merely influenced by. And if you take a listen to their music, the sound of the albums vary in the way they are composed (i cant think of a better way to phrase that, so sorry if there is misunderstanding in that sentence). I do also realise how aggravated you must get from having to participate in a revert war but that really was no reason for the insults directed toward me. Right now I keep having to switch the Platforms on the Silent Hill 5 page back to Unspecified and take it off the list of PS3 games (especially when its marked with exclusivity) but it doesnt really bother me enough to request a lock on the page. I'm not saying we should do away with the Metalcore label since you do have three cites, but I am saying we should change the first sentence of the page to say "Metal (varied, including...)" and then maybe three of the most prevelant genres in thier style, instead of just Post-Thrash/Metalcore. But whatever. SpinePastry 19:25, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Templates
since we're really not fighting anymore, could you tell me how you found all those templates on the side of your user page? I cant find a way to look for templates and the ones I got up were from guessing, and it goes without saying most of my guesses failed. SpinePastry 20:32, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Disturbed statement
Hi, I have seen your edits on the Disturbed article. I agree that stating that they "are now considered heavy metal or hard rock" is inaccurate. I will try to work that out with some people that are "protecting" the article. I have worked hard to add the point of view of people who don't consider Disturbed as metal (as I would not consider them metal either). If you have any requests, please make them on the discussion page, not that I don't agree with you, but because this is a sensible article. Thanks in advance. Glad to see that I am not the only person on Wikipedia to disagree with Disturbed assumed "metal-ship". ^^ --Zouavman Le Zouave (Talk to me! • See my edits!) 11:38, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Answer to uselessly removed post: I couldn't care less about categories. Fact is, alltho they have songs in very different styles, and some of them indeed do sound like "modern" heavy metal or hard rock songs, i wound never consider them a heavy metal or hard rock band. Fact is, nu metal is a sub-genre of metal music, like it or not. I personally would go with nu metal / alternative, but, fact is, i rather go with what sources AND an extensive discussion bring up, than with the opinion of a random user with an agressive userpage and a distructive attitude. - - 'twsx'talk'cont' 21:09, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Alltho i do not understand the reluctance to accept music jut because they don't like it, i have great respect for the MA and its community, and i don't see what would make you think i don't. What you fail to understand is that WP is not about my or your opinion, it's about representing the public. If you find a way to reflect those influences in a way that does not feel missleading to you, go ahead, that's your good right as a wikipedian. My right is to revert it if you fail. PS: Using the discussion page for such things is generally a great idea. - - 'twsx'talk'cont' 21:19, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rock music Wikiproject invitation
Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.
