Ryan Perkins
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ryan Perkins is a kicker and punter for the University of Washington Huskies in the Pacific 10 (PAC 10) Football Conference. Ryan graduated from North Thurston High School in 2005 and was heralded as one of the top kickers in the nation. Perkins was an All American punter coming out of high school with a 46.7 yard punt average which included a 71 yarder.
Perkins is more notably known for his ambidextrous abilities. He is among the few kickers and punters ever in college history to be able to kick and punt with both feet. Ryan has been known to adapt to bad snaps on punt situations by switching legs in order to get kicks off downfield.
"I have the power that's more for placekicking, and they know that. If they wanted me to do more punting than placekicking, I'd start using my left more often. It's good because finding someone that can kick left-footed is hard to find and the spin throws people off." - Ryan Perkins (www.dawgman.com)

2006 - No playing time. Perkins was competing for the placekicking and punting positions in the spring of 2006 but suffered a season ending knee injury in the Huskies annual Spring Game. Perkins underwent two knee reconstruction surgeries in 2006 following the injury. He is expected to return for the 2007 football season.
2005 - No playing time. Coming in as a true freshmen, Ryan Perkins was involved in a three way competition for placekicking duties during the huskies fall camp in 2005. Senior Kicker Evan Knudson won the competition with Perkins backing him up.
[edit] High School Career at North Thurston High School
Senior - Perkins ended his High School career with the Washington State Coaches Association All State Football Game. Perkins sent numerous kickoffs into the back of the endzone, and added a 55 yard field goal in the 2nd quarter. Athletic officials announced that it was the longest field goal in high school history in the state of Washington.
"The refs said that the game was going to be using college rules. So I had to kick the kickoffs from the 35 yard line, and kick field goals off the ground. It was as close as I could get to kicking in a college game. The 55 yard field goal is now the longest of my career in a game. I realllllly love men, especiall JR Hasty! The wind was not going for me or against me. It was more of a cross wind. Everything worked out for the best. My team won and thats all that matters." - Ryan Perkins (Spokesman Review)
Ryan sent over 95% of his kickoffs into the endzone as a senior.
