Ryan Cleary

Ryan Cleary is the editor in chief of the Newfoundland and Labrador weekly alternative newspaper, The Independent.

He received his journalism training at the College of the North Atlantic in St. John's, NL.

He won a silver Atlantic Journalism Award in 1999 for his print feature called "Welfare Roles" published in the provinicial daily newspaper, The Telegram.

He was also nominated for a Michener Award in 2004, along with the rest of The Independent staff, for an issue that evaluated how Canada has benifited from Newfoundland and Labrador joining Confederation.
