In chess, C86 is the ECO code for the Ruy Lopez, Worall Attack chess opening. The game begins 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Qe2. Similar to the Howell Attack (C81), White defends the e-pawn with the queen and supports the d-pawn push with Rd1. It requires finesse but Nigel Short beat Anatoly Karpov twice in their 1992 world match. Play normally proceeds 6...b5 7.Bb3 with 7...d6 or 7...0-0.
