Ruy Lopez, Exchange Variation Doubly Deferred

In chess, C85 is the ECO code for the Ruy Lopez, Exchange Variation Doubly Deferred chess opening. The game begins 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Bxc6 dxc6. This particular variation draws on the weaknesses in Black's camp, ie the e7 bishop and knight in exchange for the lost tempo (over the Exchange Variation). Black has a harder time supporting the e5 pawn and must spend extra tempi developing pieces already moved.
