Ruy Guerra (born 22 August 1931 in Lourenço Marques, Mozambique) is a Brazilian film director, screenwriter, film editor, and actor. After attending film school in Paris, France, Guerra worked as an assistant director on several French films. He moved to Brazil and became involved in the Cinema Novo movement there. While he has written, directed, and edited numerous Brazilian productions since the early 1960s, and continues to be active in the film industry, he is perhaps best known to international audiences for his performance as the doomed Pedro de Ursúa in Werner Herzog's Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972).
