Ruth Wilkinson (previously Hails) was a fictional character in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Ailsa Piper. She was a divorced mother, who eventually started a relationship with her landlord, Philip Martin. Despite initial opposition from both her own kids and Phil's daughter Hannah, they eventually got together. Ruth was later shocked when Ben Atkins, the son she had given up when she was 15 years old came back into her life, but she later built up a relationship with him. She first appeared in 1996 and remained until the character's departure in 1999. In 2005, Ruth made a cameo in Annalise Hartman's documentary about Ramsay Street, which revealed that she and Phil are still happily married and living in Darwin.
