Ruth Badger

Ruth Badger (born 1978 in Wolverhampton) is a British business woman. She was educated at Wodensfield Primary School in Wednesfield[1]. Badger was the runner-up in the second series of the UK version of The Apprentice; Sir Alan Sugar hired Michelle Dewberry instead of her[2].

Badger has since set up her own consultancy firm, Ruth Badger Consultancy Ltd[3], and has appeared on The Big Idea on Sky One[4].

Prior to appearing on The Apprentice, Badger worked as a senior management executive. Badger has seven GCSEs and was previously employed as a sales manager. It is claimed that she is a lesbian and is in the process of divorcing her husband[5]. Ruth was brought back to the boardroom in weeks 5, 7, 9 and 10 of the programme.

[edit] National Television Award nomination

Ruth Badger was nominated for a National Television Award, for which she competed against fellow The Apprentice candidate Syed Ahmed and Big Brother housemate Nikki Grahame, amongst others. Badger failed to make it through to the second stage of online voting and the award was eventually won by Nikki[6]. Ruth has appeared on episodes of Big Brother's Little Brother[7] and 8 Out Of 10 Cats[8].

Badger featured on The Big Idea — a television show developed in the UK by Grand Central, produced by Ricochet for Vodafone, and broadcast on Sky One from October 2006. The Big Idea gave "budding entrepreneurs" the chance to show off their inventions to the nation. Viewers and a studio audience eventually decided on an idea, and the winner was given £100,000 in investment to build and market their idea. Some inventions that appeared on the show included a 4x4 razor, a device for teaching children to brush their teeth (previously appearing on the BBC's Dragons Den), a plug removal system and a vending machine comb hair straightener.

The winner of the contest was Julian Peck with the Cyclaire, a hand powered air-pump. A profit share was assigned to the two members of the public who voted[citation needed].
