Russell Kanning

Russell Kanning is an American activist, Christian anarchist, member of the Free State Project, and publisher of the Keene Free Press. He has engaged in a number of creative, individual civil disobedience actions that protest government, including:

refusing to pay federal income tax
leafletting employees of an Internal Revenue Service office to urge them to resign
driving without a license or other government-approved identification card
refusing to submit to a Transportation Security Administration screening when attempting to board a domestic flight

He frequently protests in a costume that has become his trademark — denim overalls, a straw hat and a pitchfork.
