Russell Gunn (born 1971 in Chicago) is an American contemporary jazz musician, known primarily for his trumpet playing and band, Ethnomusicology. He grew up in East St. Louis, Illinois and although he began on trumpet his initial musical interest was hip hop with LL Cool J being his first music idol. He switched to jazz later on, but hip hop still exerts some influence on his music.[1]
