Russ Wyatt

Russ Wyatt is a City Councillor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was elected to the Transcona ward in 2002. On October 25, 2006, he was re-elected, taking 85.2% of the vote[1], thanks largely to anemic competition from other candidates in his ward[2]. Despite his impressive margin of victory, he is a controversial figure.
He has been criticized for his tactics. In the past, he has rented billboards advertizing the private contact information of other elected officials with whom he disagreed, and is well known for his undiplomatic speaking style.
It is widely agreed he won re-election for his vociferous opposition to the controversial planned OlyWest hog-processing plant just south of Transcona[3], as none of his rivals disagreed with his stance on this issue during the 2006 election, despite widespread support for the plant from Winnipeg as a whole.
Prior to being elected, he worked for his family company Wyatt Insurance Group.
