[edit] Editing Dates

If there is an event in this persons life that you are sure that is going to happen (i.e, movie involvment or releases), put them in the past tense. If you are unsure if the event is going to take place, it would be better to leave out said event until it does happen. Never do encyclopedias say "currently", "soon to be", or "will . . ."

[edit] Hannah Murray

I'm not sure if this should be added or not, as I've found no sources (apart from Hannah Murray's Wikipedia page) but it's been said that those two are dating. Is it wise to add it? --Eperdermic 16:43, 30th March 2007 (UTC)

We can add encyclopedic neutral material that is verifiable from reliable sources, but must avoid potentially slanderous gossip and rumours. Mr. Grint's current dating relationaships with other people are his business, along with his eating, bathroom, and hygiene habits; but not particularly notable or encyclopedic, as there is no legal status with who he likes today. They could be "head-over-heels in love" today and have a huge fight tonight and break up permanently tomorrow. Marriage and official engagements are different, but we still have to be careful to avoid slander and libel. There are plenty of unreliable Paparazzi sources out there who might firmly assert that Grint is now engaged to Brittney Spears and they even tried to elope, and they might even provide all sorts of photo-shopped "proof" of this, in order to sell gossip magazines. The Wikipedia is expected to rise above that nonsense. Again, there is a big difference between engagement or marriage, and simply going out for burgers and a dance last Thursday. [edit] Photos

I'm going to make the same complaint I made about the Daniel Radcliffe article regarding the photos: this article is too short to have two photos and not look ridiculous, especially since (as is currently the case on the Daniel Radcliffe page) one of the photos is right on top of the other. Someone needs to either move one of the photos down or delete it all together. --Hazey Jane 06:15, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

- It's there probably to show Rupert himself and his most recognized character. 20:44, 1 September 2005

Who put this?

[edit] Trivia

Took out the sibling thing as it is already in the actual article and the ice cream man thing as it's more of a fansite thing. Actually the Trivia section should be taken out all together as it contains information that can be found on any fansite, and it really is more of "fansite information"

I'm okay with some of the trivia there, though I'm glad you took out the bit about him wanting to be an ice cream man, as that seems especially trivial (not to mention, virtually unverifiable). --Hazey Jane 23:49, 4 September 2005 (UTC)
I completely agree with the first comment—unsigned though it is. This is becoming more a fan page than an encyclopaedia article, and I'm tempted to slap it with a cleanup tag... RadioKirk talk to me 14:48, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Criticism" section

Grint has drawn some criticism from fans for his portrayal of Ron in the films. Some defend him as the best and only choice, others accuse him of ruining the Ron character. While Ron was always clearly more light hearted and laid back than Harry and Hermione, and on occasion the victim of a joke at his expense, his occasional foolishness is frequently overplayed in the films for comic relief, often making him out to be a completely inept buffoon and a coward at times when the book had him acting bravely, and many fans blame Grint for making Ron an effeminate, inarticulate wimp. Hermione, on the other hand, is made out to be much wiser, stronger, prominent, and even funnier than her book counterpart. The way the scripts are written may also play a factor in this.

POV, but does it need to be deleted or just rewritten? CJHung 16:07, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Part Irish Descent?

Does anyone know where that info is from? I haven't been able to pick it up in web-searches (aside from references stemming from Wiki mirror sites, that is).Vulturell 03:31, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rup-Dawg on the Radio

For whoever it was who said they had no proof that my man Rup-Dawg was on the radio, here it is. [[1]].

[edit] Rupert Referenced in HBP

I have removed the claim that Rupert was referenced in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I apologize for not immediately citing a source on the discussion page, I was in a hurry and forgot I even made the change until someone sent me a message requesting a citation. I'm pretty sure that JK Rowling herself has said something on this subject, but I couldn't find it before I found [[2]] from Arthur Levine, the American editor. p. 485: [Professor Slughorn says:] “Had a house-elf taste every bottle after what happened to your poor friend Rupert.”

We’ve received a number of e-mails suggesting that Ms. Rowling must have been thinking of Rupert Grint (who plays Ron in the films) here and thus accidentally substituted his name for Ron’s. But truly this substitution is a deliberate choice on Ms. Rowling’s part: She is underlining the fact that Professor Slughorn has never paid very much attention to Ron, to the point that he still gets Ron’s name wrong even after Ron almost died in his rooms, and thus pointing up again Slughorn’s particular taste for “the company of the famous, the successful, and the powerful,” as Dumbledore says, over those who may be less flashy but are just as worthy, like Ron.

I'd also like to point out his request: Before you write to us about a possible mistake in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, we ask that you check our list of errata and explanations below. Likewise, before putting anything on Wikipedia about supposed mistakes, you should check that link first. -- Crushti 20:22 UTC, 8 April 2006

Thanks for the source, it even rings a bell. I'm not sure that it rules out the possibility of Grint having influenced the choice of that name, though, escpecially in light of the other nods to hp culture. Anyway, i was thinking of adding a paragraph to the main HBP (book) article about possibe references to that, and i think this piece of trivia belongs there, if anywhere. The reference to it already there is a little informal and repetative.Amo 20:47, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photo Image Substitution and Reversion

On the question of Rupert's Image - my intention was to provide a PR image that showed Rupert as Rupert, not as "Ron Weasley" - where the same image is used. The image I uploaded (and then was speedily deleted on my request, shortly after the copyvio claim) was among the publicity photos at The Leaky Caudron, and appeared to be from a PR poster, which qualifies as a "promotional photo" in fair use, to illustrate a person. It was subsequently claimed to have been taken from a magazine article (and not a cover either) and on further inspection it appeared to be as claimed (some foreign "teen" magazine). That image, as stated, has been deleted, and the original Ron Weasley photo reset. HOWEVER - I really would like us to get to work on replacing all these movie-based photos (like Rupert as Ron Weasley) on the actor's pages, with proper PR photos of the actors (and actresses) being themselves, as there is more to their lives than posing in character for the popular movies they appear in. Thanks, and apologies for the copyvio error. --T-dot 17:37, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Absolutely, you're correct, and thank you for the reminder—I had done so for Emma Watson, and intended to do the same for Messrs. Grint and Radcliffe, but got busy elsewhere. Lemme see if I have a few moments. :) RadioKirk talk to me 18:53, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Second Name: Alexander vs. Michael

What is the real second name? Warner and IMDb say Alexander, but Google says Michael (11.000:200). --Seewolf 08:21, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Well since Warner Bros. "owns" Mr. Grint, they can technically call him Billy-Bob if they wish. Seriously though, since Grint works for WB - you can take WB as verifiable WP:V and as a reliable source WP:RS , and the IMDb simply gets the official info from the studio and unofficial info from elsewhere. If WB gets it wrong, Grint can correct it. What is Google's source? Some random fan site or blog page run by an obsessed Grint fan (also) named "Rupert Michael" who wants to impress his classmates? --T-dot 10:02, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
T-dot is correct; WP:V states, "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth." RadioKirk (u|t|c) 13:10, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 18th birthday party

I read in a newspaper that there was a sexual assault at his birthday party. DavidJJJ 10:14, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Thus far, all versions of this story I can find quote The Daily Mail. At this moment, anyway, I'm not comfortable with inclusion here. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 13:25, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

well just because you dont feel comfortable with it doesn't mean it shouldn't be included. There was an allegation and therefore it should be included as an 'allegation'. its the same with any other article. im sorry, i think there should be a reference. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.153.14.252 (talk • contribs).

Radio Kirk didn't say he wasn't confortable with allegation (who wouldn't be), he said he wasn't comfortable with including it here. To me sounds like he's trying to say that he thought about it and decided not to, rather than express his feelings about the incident itself. I happen to agree. So far as i know, there's been no suggestion that the incident involves Grint. Perhaps if that had been suggested, as in the Michael Barrymore swimming pool case, then perhaps it would merit inclusion. but as is, i think not. user: Amoammo

Quite correct. One, The Daily Mail is a tabloid; two, the accusation it prints is peripheral to Grint at best. Wikipedia is not a newspaper. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 18:11, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Right then, in that case I'll delete the section in the Russell Brand section about rape claims as he was cleared of being involved in a supposed rape at his rented flat in edinburgh. This seems to be a similar situation to Grint therefore should not be included. Mitoy11 16:20, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No longer a child actor

Rupert Grint is 18 years old so he should be removed from the child actors category, —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.129.148.44 (talk) 19:26, 4 February 2007 (UTC).

Neither is Warwick Davis; I presume he remains in the category as he was one when he filmed Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 19:52, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint"?

Where is the source that "Lloyd" ist Ruperts third forename? The given reference to the GoF-Flash-Website only speaks of him as "Rupert Alexander Grint". I've never heard of "Lloyd" as one of Ruperts names before. 84.61.56.125 22:53, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] No photo!?!

How can there be no photo of this actor!?! JayKeaton 01:27, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Unless a Wiki-editor, or some other kind soul, takes Mr. Grint's picture and then provides it freely to the Wikipedia, then we are stuck at "because". Freely provided images of living persons can be posted, with the permission of the photographer or creator, under the Image Use policy. Images created by and for the press, or by professional photographers, or by others who own the copyright on the image, such as those found on most web sites, fall under the Wikipedia's Fair Use policy, which forbids posting "An image of a living person that merely shows what they look like." --T-dot (Talk | contribs) 16:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
