Running From The Rain is the seventh track on A City By The Light Divided; closer to the album's release date, it was played somewhat often at live shows. It has rarely been played a live shows since, however.
Speculation is that this song was intended to be Thursday's second single from the album, due to its inclusion on promotional posters and an Island Records promotional sampler. This song was also featued on a Saturn commercial for their Sky cars.
Keyboardist Andrew Everding responds to the controversy of the band using its song in a Saturn commercial:
"It was something we toiled over. We weren't sure if we should do something like that, but at this point, we decided that we'll always have problems trying to get people to hear our music and that's a way for them to do it. It's not selling out, we're not getting a ton of money for it, but we're at a point where we realize that we need to get as many as people as possible to hear it. It's not about trying to be this massive, huge band or something, but you have to look at all the people who do commercials like that. It's weird to see, you know, some of the bands that are in car commercials, and I think how much some of it sucks. But there's an understanding to it."
Guitarist Steve Pedulla also responds:
"It's always interesting in those situations. There are some people that want to because the father side of that is getting your music to new people. Obviously, music is communication. There definetely was an intensive conversation that some of us wanted to do and some of us didn't want to do. When you're in a band, you don't always see eye to eye but you have to compromise. We kind of run our band in a way where it's like if more people want to do it, it's cool. You know? We work it out. So it's kind of split on that one but we did a little bit of research and know that they're not a terrible company."
