[edit] RS Quests article
Hi. I think that quests are a very notable part of the game and deserve their own article again. Our last one was deleted through afd. Does anyone have any opinions? Dtm142 23:38, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, any re-creation of the article could be speedy deleted per criterion four of the criteria for speedy deletion. Hyenaste (tell) 23:50, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- G4 only applies if it's identical, not if it's just an article on the same subject. That's why I'm bringing it here first. Dtm142 01:23, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- We could remake it with alterations from the old article, although I didnt see what was wrong with the old one. If we can find out what got it deleted before, and keep that out of it, it should be ok - • The Giant Puffin • 13:05, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/RuneScape_quests. Dtm142 22:08, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Too many DYKs
There are too many things in the Did You KNow section. I propose we rotate the content in it so as to keep the content "Fresh" and to avoid the length. → p00rleno (lvl 76) ←ROCKS 15:45, Sunday April 8, 2007 (UTC) (oops, made it static again.)

- I agree. Maybe have 3 or 4 points and change it once a week? - • The Giant Puffin • 10:28, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea. Perhaps we could make an archive of the old ones as well. Dtm142 20:04, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, that way we wont duplicate them all the time - • The Giant Puffin • 14:39, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- Great. So tomorrow, we can archive it and put up some new ones. Dtm142 17:58, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mis-leading Traffic Information for "Major Fansite" info
The traffic information used to confirm the "Major Fansite" is considerably flawed, considering the information is taken from a site which uses only traffic from people using a particular toolbar - very much a flawed process. Here's a quote from the site of the toolbar in question :
What is Traffic Rank?
The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). As a first step, Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis. The main Alexa traffic rank is based on the geometric mean of these two quantities averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users). The three-month change is determined by comparing the site's current rank with its rank from three months ago. For example, on July 1, the three-month change would show the difference between the rank based on traffic during the first quarter of the year and the rank based on traffic during the second quarter.
This leads to the possibility of sites artificially increasing their apparent traffic stats by promoting a certain toolbar.
A simple Google Search for Runescape shows another fan-site (ahead of, even, wikipedia) at the top of the list - not a direct indicator for traffic, for sure - but there are certainly better ways than using the stats from a toolbar, which people are advised to stay away from...
- Yes, but Alexa is what Wikipedia uses. J.J.Sagnella 08:44, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

- "Whats wrong with sticking with what we have?" - you mean aside from the fact that it's wrong and very easily manipulated ??
- Just leave it as it is, it's not going to get changed anytime in the near future. J.J.Sagnella 08:18, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rogue Subpages and their Solution
After listing another rogue subpage today, I thought about a solution. I decided the best Idea was to make an index of all RuneScape-related pages deleted by afd so they can be quickly and easily speedied. So, I've finished it, it is here, tell me what you think. J.J.Sagnella 09:46, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thats useful, thanks - • The Giant Puffin • 07:39, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Should I add a category to it? And if so which one, portal or non-portal? J.J.Sagnella 08:41, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Ummmmmm, maybe Portal seeing as we are discussing it here - • The Giant Puffin • 08:11, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Do you know Small Area
"... that if players wear a holy or unholy symbol and enter any team in CastleWars they will be transformed into an imp (holy symbol in the Zamorak portal), sheep(Holy or unholy symbol in Guthix portal), or rabbit (unholy symbol through Sarodomin portal)?"
From what I have seen,It is being transformed into an imp (If you have any Saradomin related object(s) in the Zamorak portal), sheep(Saradomin or Zamorak related objects(s) in Guthix portal), or rabbit (Zamorak related Object(s) through Sarodomin portal)?
Saradomin Related --->Holy Symbol,Saradomin Book etc. Zamorak Related --->Unholy Symbol, Zamorak Book etc.
Will anyone Clarify this?--203.120.68.70 17:26, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Multiple Updates At once...
Quite often now Jagex posts more updates than one per day and currently we only show one. How about summarizing the most important one but putting headline links to the others below? → p00rleno (lvl 76) ←ROCKS 15:45, Sunday April 8, 2007 (UTC)
- That could work, as one of the updates is usually more important than the other - • The Giant Puffin • 15:41, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- I agree also, they seem to double up updates at lot recently. J.J.Sagnella 15:44, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Ok, so we'll start with that next update. Yay. → p00rleno (lvl 76) ←ROCKS 15:45, Sunday April 8, 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Keep it balenced
The right side is getting long. Can someone fix it? I tried, but my edit went crazy! Help me!! → p00rleno (lvl 76) ←ROCKS 15:45, Sunday April 8, 2007 (UTC)
- Moved the quotes section, it's almost perfectly balanced now. Agentscott00(talk contribs) 21:36, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Random events not so random?
Random events always seem to happen after one has been reported for macroing etc... any verification? p00rleno 18:46, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Can't really verify this, but yes, being reported for macroing will increase the tendency of random events that you'll have, but only by a very slight amount. It's just the detector system kicking in to try and catch you. Agentscott00(talk) 04:14, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Ive asked JAgex and am awaiting a response. → p00rleno (lvl 77) ←ROCKSCRS 7:05 pm ET Nov 10 2006

- I have recieved a responce, and I quote, "Once again, many thanks for your query, and apologies that we cannot give a personal response at this time." so this but will have to wait. → p00rleno (lvl 77) ←ROCKSCRS 1:19 pm ET Nov 18 2006

- ----->Random events happen when you are doing the same thing repeatly for a long time. For example, if you cut wood for 2 hours straight, you have a high risk of getting a random event. Thats how it works... Firejunk 02:36, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pest Control Clan
Affliction has made a page about itself about our background and history etc. Would this be considered spam? We believe it may be significant as we were one of the first pest control clans. Now there are hundreds...
Eyehawk78 11:35, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm afraid really you aren't notable enough to warrant an article. Really unless you're looking at hundreds of thousands of participants, I'm afraid the article would be deleted. J.J.Sagnella 12:03, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah. Clans arent really that large a factor at the moment. If it becomes like blood gangs w/ thousands of members then it can get an article/subpage. → p00rleno (lvl 76) ←ROCKS (3:46pm, November 2 2006, EST)
- I agree. Individual clans arent notable enough to warrent their own article - • The Giant Puffin • 15:36, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quotes
Should the quotes section be updated and weeded out of more boring quotes? Seriously, "nothing interesting happens" is extremely dull. not very quotable. there are more interesting quotes pertaining to things like the Dragon Slayer, etc. that would be better for the Portal. Just throwing my thoughts out there. Rockymountains 22:28, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Rockymountains
- You have a point there. Please do, if you can. CaptainVindaloo t c e 03:06, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

- Totally 100% wholeheartedly agree. → p00rleno (lvl 77) ←ROCKSCRS Too lazy to type the date again so just look at the 1st timestamp in the proposed... section.

- I'll get on to it as I find some interesting quotes. I think I had added some quotes a few months back and they got reverted; maybe I never really added them in the first place. anyways, thanks for the thumbs-up. --Rockymountains 22:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Rockymountains
-
- Some of the quotes should be replaced. Here is a good one. "Does my pelvis look big in this?" You get this quote Examining Skeleton leggings . This are the kind of quotes we should be aiming toword. --Wiz126 14:42, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- I dont think they have ever been changed. They need to be rotated on a weekly basis. I dont even bother looking anymore, because I know it will be the same - • The Giant Puffin • 20:30, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Section Proposal
I think the page needs color. Therefore, I propose that a ScreenShot of the Month or Week be added. After it is used we put a record of it on the subpage in noinclude-s and then delete the old image as to avoid clogging the server. Furthermore, that should be the kind of thing that is discussed among the RS portal community every time it is time to change, so that one person can't keep putting pics of himself mining tin or something like that. Feedback? → p00rleno (lvl 77) ←ROCKSCRS 7:00 pm ET Nov 10 2006
- If you're talking about game screenshots, the answer I'm afraid has to be no. Images like screenshots are only allowed in the main namespace. J.J.Sagnella 20:52, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- could it be considered fair use if we doctored them and made them our own work? → p00rleno (lvl 77) ←ROCKSCRS 7:34 am ET, 15 November 2006
- Doubt it. WP is strict about these things - • The Giant Puffin • 20:31, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] **HELLO????***
Anyone have anything that we could possibly do for this page other then routine maintance???? HELLO Line goes dead → p00rleno (lvl 77) ←ROCKSCRS 13:04, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- 'Lo! Well, isn't this page supposed to be used for routine maintenance? Now that we have the Wikiproject, general discussion of the series can take place there rather than spread out around here and Talk:RuneScape. CaptainVindaloo t c e 14:25, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, there is something we can do... DELETE the whole portal, it's just pathetic having a portal for only 5 (FIVE!!!) articles. I suggest we delete it and put a link to the RuneScape wiki instead. BTW, I'm not trying to advertise the wiki, it's just my opinion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by EMG Blue (talk • contribs).
- No. For starters, it has already been overwhelmingly kept by community consensus in one MfD. And that was before we created our maintenance templates in here. And finally, RSW is intended for players, whilst the articles here are not. We cannot rely solely on a link to RSW. CaptainVindaloo t c e 17:48, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
