RuneScape is an MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role-playing game) implemented in Java, with over 4 million active players. RuneScape was launched by Jagex Ltd. on January 4, 2001 and offers both pay to play ("P2P") and free to play ("F2P") membership options to players.
RuneScape allows players to develop many different non-combat skills ranging from runecrafting and mining to cooking and crafting. The large range of non-combat skills means that RuneScape has an expansive, dynamic player economy.
Combat, a set of trainable skills in the MMORPG RuneScape, is the act of battling opponents, whether they are NPCs or other players. Combat between players and NPCs can take place in most locations in RuneScape, while combat among players can now only take place in designated areas.

That Jagex first implemented a fatigue system to Runescape Classic to combat macroers/botters; that required players to sleep in beds (and woke up by typing a random word) after doing anything physical such as mining or woodcutting. After getting many complaints, Jagex added in a sleeping bag item, that could be used anywhere. This entire system was later removed completely, along with sleeping bags.

- Change most mentions of "you" to "players" and when possible and appropriate, be more specific such as "attacker", "wielder", etc.
- Get more references for all the articles such as postings on the official RuneScape site here: [1] or some other site.
- Use consistency for all terms throughout the articles. E.g. RuneScape and RuneScape Classic must look like this when mentioned. The proper term is "two handed sword" for any of the two handed swords.
- Write out contractions, do not use abbreviations, change everything to the British spellings of words, fix grammar and spelling, etc.
- Generally improve the RuneScape Series in whatever way you can.
- Add [[Category:RuneScape Images]] to any RuneScape images you see.
- Change the selected article at the start of each month.
- Change the RuneScape News section if new news on RuneScape comes out.
