Ruined for life

The term "ruined for life" has several uses, most common is the notion that a person has experienced something life changing, and thus they are "ruined for life". The stimulating experience can range the full spectrum, from tragedy through pleasurable to enlightenment.

In Western vernacular, the term was commonly used interchangeably with the term "fallen woman" in describing a woman who had sexually sinned before marriage and was thus "ruined for life".

More recently, the term also was used to describe the personal effects of financial ruin or other root causes of ongoing failure or despair.

In current vernacular, the term is ofter used in a humorous way to make light of some minor tragedy or setback.
