Rudy Dhaenens

Rudy Dhaenens (April 10, 1961 in Deinze – April 6, 1998 in Aalst) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer who is most famous for won the World Cycling Championships in 1990.
Dhaenens won the 1990 World Championship Road Race, held in Utsunomiya, Japan, ahead of Dirk De Wolf of Belgium and Gianni Bugno of Italy. Bugno went onto to win the championship the next two years. Dhaenens finished on the Paris-Roubaix classic race; finishing second in 1986 and 3rd the following year.
In his honor, the Grand Prix Rudy Dhaenens is held each year in Nevele, Belgium.
