Rudolf Dassler

Rudolf Dassler (March 26, 1896 in Herzogenaurach (Germany) - October 27, 1974 in Herzogenaurach), is the German founder of the sportswear company PUMA and brother of Adidas founder, Adolf Dassler. Rudolf and his brother Aldolf soon became rivals because of the competition in their industries.

Initially calling the company "Ruda" (Rudolf Dassler) it later changed to its present name of PUMA.

Under his direction PUMA remained a small, provincial company. Only under the direction of his son Armin Dassler did PUMA become the world-wide known company it remains today.

Rudolf Dassler died on October 27, 1974 of lung cancer.
