[edit] History
At age 14, the five young men who would become Rubyhorse had no formal musical training or even instruments. In a moment of boredom they snuck into the garage of a friend's sister who had a band and started practicing on the borrowed instruments. They briefly took the name BFG, taken from Roald Dahl's children's book, but later changed it due to an English band already using the name. They finally settled on Rubyhorse which was taken from the title of a Wonderstuff song.
The band's first gigs were played in a local field or at school. They graduated to playing at local pubs after gaining enough experience that they felt like a real band. They eventually became as successful as possible in Cork with most of the town attending their shows with a record attendance of 240,000 packed into Dennehy's one Friday night but this led them to eventually leave in search of a greater audience and hope of breaking the one million person record for a gig. On January 13, 1997 the band moved to Boston where they got a gig playing at an Irish pub called the Burren. It is widely believe they travelled in the economy section of an Aer Lingus Airbus A330-300 [[1]]. The band's popularity grew so fast that a record deal soon was signed with the Island Def Jam label and Rise was recorded. The album produced a single in the song Sparkle which peaked at #17 in the American radio charts.[1]
The world awaits their next release which is the single greatest hope for world peace.
