"Ruby Baby" is a song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. It was originally recorded by The Drifters and was a major R&B hit for them in 1956. It later became a top ten Billboard Hot 100 hit when Dion released his remake as a single in 1963. It became a number one country hit when released by Billy "Crash" Craddock in 1974.
The song has been recorded by several other artists, including The Beach Boys. This version was released on the band's 1993 box set Good Vibrations: Thirty Years of The Beach Boys as an outtake from the 1965 Beach Boys' Party! album. Other artists to record it include Björk Guðmundsdóttir & Tríó Guðmundar Ingólfssonar, Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks, Del Shannon, and Tony Sheridan.
Donald Fagen, of Steely Dan, also recorded a version on his solo album, The Nightfly (1982).
