Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE) is the Spanish public broadcasting corporation. It is the biggest audiovisual group in Spain and in Spanish language. It is financed by public funds as well as advertisements.

This corporation owns TVE (Televisión Española, Spanish TV), TVEI (TVE Internacional, International TVE), TVET (TVE Temática, Thematic TVE) and RNE (Radio Nacional de España, National Radio of Spain). IORTV (Instituto Oficial de Radio y Televisión, Official Institute of Radio and TV) and the Orquesta Sinfónica y Coro de RTVE (RTVE's Symphonic Orchestra and Choir) belong to this group as well. RTVE (formerly RNE) was admitted as a full active member of the European Broadcasting Union in 1955.

RTVE has an enormous deficit. A proposed reform aims to transform RTVE into a corporation, with an elected general director and ten members (four chosen by the government, four by the Spanish Senate and two appointed by trade unions but chosen by the Spanish Congress). All candidates would require two thirds approvals from both congress and senate, and would serve for a six-year term.

RTVE has contributed to more than 300 films in the last years. Many of them have received awards in International Cinema Festivals all around the world.
