Royal Supremacy

The legal authority of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom. Specifically used to describe the legal sovereignty of the civil laws over the laws of the Church in England.
King Henry VIII of England issued the Act of Supremacy in 1534, granting himself Royal Supremacy.
